Dylan Chand

Founder of the Youth Climate Collective, passionate about the role that young people can play in taking action for climate and community resilience.

Dylan is a passionate and driven young leader with a strong commitment to community engagement and climate action. In 2023 he founded the Youth Climate Collective (YCC), a youth-led non-profit organisation dedicated to empowering and educating our rangatahi with the skills to become resilient climate leaders across industries and in communities. Through workshops, conferences, and engagements, Dylan & YCC provide opportunities for youth across Aotearoa to drive change and reached over a 1000 people in 2023.

Dylan’s journey in climate advocacy began as a Youth Climate Catalyst at Auckland Council, where he promoted low-carbon lifestyles to rangatahi. This led him to the C40 World Mayors Summit in Buenos Aires where he represented Tāmaki Makaurau, engaging in city-level climate policy, and emphasising the importance of youth engagement. He continues his youth climate advocacy by serving on Auckland Council’s Youth Advisory Panel, championing a more just and resilient future.

He is currently studying Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Auckland and hopes to pursue a career in sustainable technology development to help create innovative solutions to combat climate change.
