Andrea is a feminist, changemaker and leader with a strong belief in the power of organisations to change the world. She founded her own strategy, change and communications consultancy Brewster + Associates in 2018, helping clients create and communicate change. She is a co-founder of the SYNC Collective, a network of millennial entrepreneurs which enables people to do purposeful work.
Andrea’s background includes advertising agencies and the public sector, moving from her home town of New Plymouth to Christchurch where she got the professional opportunity of a lifetime to work on anchor projects in the central city rebuild after the 2010/11 earthquakes. She has worked in the Beehive at the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet, and held a senior leadership role at GirlGuiding New Zealand managing commercial interests.
A champion for fair trade and social enterprise, Andrea has served as a trustee and chair of Trade Aid Christchurch, continuing a family legacy - her grandparents were involved in founding Trade Aid in the 1960s. She is also a trustee for Catapult Employment Services and the YWCA Christchurch, both of which help disadvantaged members of the community find dignity and meaningful work. She is proud to continue the work Kate Sheppard started at the YWCA 130 years ago, providing emergency and transitional housing for vulnerable women.
Andrea was a finalist in the 2016 Women of Influence Awards, as one of ten influential Kiwi women under 25, and in the 2016-17 Women in Governance Awards. She was an Enterprise semi-finalist in the 2019 Impact Awards and Emerging Leader finalist in 2019 Champion Canterbury Business Awards.
